As I drove to work today, I noticed how the sun was fighting to break through the steely gray clouds. At a certain point the golden rays burst through the cracks and over the puffy marshmallow edges, making them appear to glow. It reminded me of a painting. It reminded me that the darkness never overpowers the light.
Bad things happen. Horrible things happen. That’s a fact and that’s life. I’m not trying to sound harsh or jaded. All I’m doing is stating the facts. Sometimes a series of negative things happen in our lives and we wonder if things will ever be good again. I don’t believe things can stay bad forever. I think, sometimes, bad things happen to test us as a person. Nevertheless, things can’t stay bad forever. Eventually, they become good again.
Life is a balance between good and bad, but, it’s my belief that, there’s no such thing as a good or bad life. There’s simply life and we choose whether to make it good or bad.
It could be argued that some things are out of our control. I’ll agree with that, but, at the same time, we do have the power to decide how to react and handle these situation. We have to remember to live life and not let life live us.
Anyway, I digress a little.
By mid-morning the sun had fully broken through the clouds and was now lighting the world and warming the ground below. The dark clouds and fog from the morning had disappeared, leaving nothing but blue skies. Shadows danced across the pavement and green grass as birds flew through the spring sky and sang on the branches of budding trees.
There’s a point to all of this, to this story. Even when the sky is full of darkness the sun is still out. Even when bad things happen there is a reason and a light (even if we don’t see it at first).
Things won’t stay bad forever.
The sun will always shine.
